If Jesus were alive today, would he be a capitalist?
This was the opening question for a seminary course that fueled Rayce's imagination on the potential impact faithful involvement in the marketplace could have. The course, titled Market Justice and Christian Ethics taught by Dr. John Senior, explored the unique challenges of adhering to Christian values and principles while participating within a capitalistic economic system. This course, alongside Rayce's own experience with poverty, helped solidify his commitment to poverty alleviation through economic belonging.
Rayce understands economic belonging as the opportunity for all to participate in and benefit from the economic system in a way that nourishes self and cultivates communal flourishing. When Rayce founded Faithonomics in 2021, he committed to donating 10% of its profits to challenging poverty in Winston-Salem through the distribution of unrestricted funding to local nonprofit organizations. In 2023, this 'tithing pledge' manifested into the creation of The Wild Imagination Fund at the Winston-Salem Foundation which aims to continue Rayce's anti-poverty work while building a broader coalition of faith-inspired leaders and organizations ready to eradicate poverty from the Winston-Salem landscape.
Rayce is a firm believer that we can end systemic poverty and is on a mission to prove it locally. If you are in Winston-Salem and would like to become a collaborative partner of The Wild Imagination Fund, Rayce encourages you to explore this page.
When Rayce founded Faithonomics in 2021, he announced a 'tithing pledge' to tithe at least 10% of future profits to combat poverty in Winston-Salem. What began as an individual's commitment to social responsibility has grown into a local movement of faith-inspired philanthropy.
